International Symposium on Eco City Bogor

CCROM SEAP in collaboration with NIES has been conducting research related to low carbon strategies to support one of the missions of Bogor City to develop the concept of Bogor Eco City (green, healthy and environmentally friendly). The research is supported by development of monitoring system, reporting and innovative visualization through installation of system demo the used of energy in Bogor City as well as future simulation scenario of Bogor eco city based on parameter information and the green gas house emission.

Following the implementation process, to exchange ideas and share experiences in the implementation of the Bogor Eco-city, CCROM SEAP in collaboration with Bogor City, Centre for Research on Energy Policy (CREP) ITB, NIES, and Institute for Global Environmental Services (IGES) Japan convening International Symposium on Eco City Bogor that was held on 17 March 2016 in IPB International Convention Center. This symposium attended and opened by Mayor of Bogor City, Dr. Bima Arya Sugiarto; Vice Rector for Research and Cooperation of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Anas Miftah Fauzi, M. Sc; as well as Director for GHG Inventory and MRV Ministry of Environment and Forestry Dr. Ir. Kirsfianti Linda Ginoga, M. Sc as Keynote Speaker; various stakeholders from Jakarta and Bandung were also invited as symposium participants.

In his opening speech, the Mayor of Bogor City, Dr. Bima Arya Sugiarto, said that "Bogor city government has serious mission in realizing Bogor city as Eco City". Through this Symposium and the cooperation program between IPB and Bogor City, is one of the efforts from the government to establish Bogor Eco City program, as well as to support the Indonesian Government's commitment to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG). In the same occasion, Vice Rector for Research and Cooperation of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Anas Miftah Fauzi, M. S,c also said that IPB had an important task to help the City Government in conducting research and contributing knowledge in an effort to reduce GHG emissions, especially in Bogor City.
